Sophie is supposed to dress up like St Brigid for All Saints' Day. Now I'm not sure how to dress her.

When my daughter was small we dressed her as a nun using sheets fastened with safety pins. I think we went to a fabric store and bought some black cloth for her veil, also safety-pinned. You might also make a St Brigid's Cross out of cardboard for her.
A big amen from me here too! I like that: a great lake of beer.
I think it would be fascinating to think more about what beer meant to the people of her day. At that point, beer was safer to drink than water--more purified in some sense.
