Jon and I sat at the table in the library. It was study hall and we were whispering-arguing about the merits of U2's Joshua Tree. He was trying to convince me of its Christian value and its coolness quotient, while I was having none of it.
Fast forward nearly twenty years. I'm driving down the road in my minivan, "With or Without You" is playing on my phat Windstar speakers through my sweet iPod. I'm on drums and lead vocals. My four-year-old, Anna, is on guitar, air-fretting in the backseat and providing back-up vocals. The windows are down. Life is good. And Jon, wherever you are, you were right.

Your family is just as crazy as mine.
Isn't it fun?!
I remember Jon. He and I went to the same elementary school before LCS.
Joshua Tree will forever be a reminder of our family road trip in August. In fact, every time we saw an actual Joshua tree (which I didn't know my kids could even identify), the kids insisted that we play the whole CD again. We heard quite a bit of U2, incidentally, as we passed through Nevada, Arizona and southern Utah. Twice.
I just thought of "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" and got chills.
U2 is my adolescence when Tanner first bought Boy and would blare it from his little "Boom Box" so that we all heard it.
I wonder where Jon is now.
Ah, thank-you for changing to a 'k'. That's how I remembered it, and I always hate finding out that my memory has failed me yet again.
Sherry - lol - yeah, I woke up this morning thinking k, not g! Problem is I couldn't find my yearbook to verify, but I'm sure it's correct now.
Jamie, you guys are this crazy?
Alison, it's got some memories tied to it, doesn't it?
Yes. You have no idea.... well, maybe you do.
Hey there Scott,
It's late, and I'm up at 3:00 in the morning and thought I'd check in with your blog--good ole Jon Teusink! I haven't thought of him in a long time. Last I heard he was becoming a doctor--it'll be good to catch up with old friends in a few years at the big 2-0!
Dan
Good to hear from you, Dan. Yeah, that would be fun. I'd really like to try to get up there this time.
I hope you're doing well.
Speaking of old friends...
I went to the MSU game this past weekend, and had a great time (sideline passes from the Marching Band!) Anyway, walking towards the stadium, I ran into Todd and Gillian Granger and their kids! Small world to be sure. Made me look forward even more to catching up.
Dan
Very cool, Dan. Sounds like a fun weekend. How are they doing? I can't believe it's been seventeen years. Unbelievable.
